The double bridge of Trimiklini

In the Limassol countryside, at a location of amazing natural beauty, one may find the only double bridge in Cyprus. The bridge is essentially 2 different constructions, which served the transportation needs of people from 2 different historical periods.

The first phase of the construction was completed at the beginning of the 20th century, in 1901 specifically. At the time, it served the needs of carriages crossing from end of Cyprus to the other, through the mountainous regions of Limassol. The second phase of the construction was completed in 1917, after the appearance of the first automobile vehicles. This spot then became the connection between Limassol – Trimiklini – Troodos.

Since ancient times, Trimiklini was a crossing point which served the residents of the countryside who would visit the urban centers, as well as traders who would travel to the countryside from the city for commercial purposes.

The area is also home to another, even more ancient bridge. The stone-built, Venetian bridge of Trimiklini can be found across the nature trail, which once connected the community with the surrounding areas.
