The Linear nature trail 'Loumata ton aeton' is considered to be among the rather challenging routes on the mountains of Limassol district, due to the changes in its morphology. At the same time, it is one of the trails that will utterly reward you with unique views that you can enjoy all year long.
It is located at around 1100 meters above sea level, in a dense pine forest, and is around 2,5 kilometers long. The route passes from Almirolivado picnic site. The trail crosses through a picturesque hillside and follows a course along the river banks, through ample vegetation and finally ends at Amiantos Park.
In the northwest area of the trail, in the forest, one could move towards the slopes of the deserted asbestos mine. The landscape changes there, since the dilapidated slopes are a dominant sight. Even though one has to cross through some rough points, with an upward inclination, the image revealed is indeed rare. On the base of the mine, a 'secret' lake appears, only after the winter rains and snow, while it disappears again in the summer.
The landscape is even more unique when snow covers the slopes of the mine, reaching all the way down to the surface of the lake.
