As early as the end of the 19th century, when the English chose Platres as a holiday resort, the beautiful Caledonia Waterfalls, attracted the attention of holidaymakers.
Those were the ones who named the Waterfall, as the impressive scenery with the dense vegetation resembled something of ancient Caledonia, their homeland. From then until today, hikers haven’t failed to explore this idyllic location, every season of the year.
The waterfall, from where the water of the Krios river falls from a height of 12 meters, is located in the middle of the distance of the homonymous trail. It is about 1 km distance from the starting point at the High Tree, while it is about 1.5 km from the northern end of the trail. The ascent to the waterfall is easier, but the part that descends towards it is even more impressive.
If you visit the Waterfall in the summertime, don’t forget to wear a swimsuit and enjoy its cool breeze. You can even get right under the water if you can withstand the force it hits you with!
