The monastery of Panagias Glossa is located near the village of Kellaki, in an area where a monk named Sylvestros once practiced.
The chapel of Zoodochou Pigi was built there, and it acted as the central church of the small settlement. The chapel became a part of the facilities of the nunnery founded there in 1975, which still exists to this day.
A few years after the monastery was founded, its main church, dedicated to the Holy Trinity, was inaugurated. There is another chapel in the area of the monastery, dedicated to the All Saints.
The name ‘Panagia tou Glossa’ (Virgin of the Tongue) is derived from the many miracles attributed to the Virgin Mary, performed for people with hearing and speech problems.
