Blood moon solar eclipse @ Limassol seaside park


On Friday, the 27th of July, you will have the unique opportunity to observe a very special total lunar eclipse; a phenomenon also known as the "Blood Moon". The event, will take place on the semi-circular dock at the Limassol Promenade (Molos), opposite Caffè Nero.

The entire moon will be gradually hide in Earth's shadow, where for almost 2 hours it will acquire a distinct reddish color. The blood moon phenomenon will not be visible again before 2025, but this is in fact the longest full moon eclipse of the 21st century.

The event includes:
- Projection of the Moon’s live image on a big screen, as it will be recorded through a telescope.

- Talk about the phenomenon by Physics professor Mr. Zacharias Mavris 
- Observation of the moon and visible planets through our telescopes
- Live atmospheric music by DJ Johnny Blue
- Astrophotography workshop with emphasis on the Moon

The event is organized by "House of Science" with the support of the Research Promotion Foundation and the Limassol Municipality.
