In the traditional shopping center of Limassol, a unique arcade, with distinctive architecture and an interesting design, became an additional pole of attraction in the city's marketplace towards the end of the 20th century.
With entrances on the historical Agiou Andreou Street and Themidos Street, as well as an opening onto the commercial area of Anexartisias Street, the Lanitis Arcade not initially built to serve commercial purposes. At first, it acted as the administrative headquarters for the N.P. Lanitis Group in Limassol, and this was its main use until the end of the 1970s. The growth of the Group soon rendered the arcade unsuitable for this purpose, and a new era for its use had begun.
Once the company had abandoned the premises, the Lanitis Arcade had to be fully fully reconstructed, so as to be able to be used for commercial purposes. The refurbishment of the entire area resulted in the arcade as we know it today, with few alterations since then. Shops within the arcade thus began being sold to various shop owners, and the building ownership was passed on to many small business owners, allowing for a variety of shops to operate within.
The cozy benches situated between the planters along the arcade are perfect for anyone who wishes to rest their feet during a day of shopping or strolling in the area, and admire the impressive, elongated dome ceiling of the arcade.
