Winter swimmers in Limassol have been an institution for decades, since the city and its beaches are suitable for swimming all year round. In addition to that, 2018 has become the first year for Limassol to enjoy the services of winter lifeguards, too, which has been a long-term demand for the city.
Since 1/2/2018, the lifeguards appeared on their towers in Limassol, in 4 different beaches. This is something happening for the first time in the history of lifeguards in Cyprus, since it is considered crucial after the increase of the number of people visiting the beach side during the winter. Apart from dozens of winter swimmers, the beach is a spot the athlete and people regularly exercising will visit on a daily basis.
The supervision of the beach by lifeguards in February will take place during 7 am – 2 pm and the beaches included in this schedule are Akti Olimpion (opposite G.S.O. and opposite Enaerios parking area), Dasoudi beach in Yermasoyia and the beach in front of Four Seasons hotel. The lifeguards express their wish to be able have even more winter towers in the future, in places with significant traffic, such as Malindi beach, on the eastern end of the city.
