For the twelfth year, the Complex of the Communities of Kouris Valley and Xylouriko hosts the Almond Tree Festival, on Sunday 5th of March at the village of Limnatis. The program will start from 11 in the morning and it will continue until 4 in the afternoon, with a variety of activities offered to the visitors.
Those who will visit the village on the specific day, they will have the opportunity to taste traditional Cypriot products such as zivania, soutzouko and soumada, as well as to learn from close how the traditional halloumi, bread and almond sweet are made, just the way the inhabitants of the village produce them. In the celebration there will be many stalls, which will serve Cypriot meze and sweets in reasonable prices.
Children will be able to pass their time creatively in the drawing and pottery workshop, which has been included in the activities of the event. The older ones will have the chance to display their talent in improvisation, in the Competition of ‘Tsiatista’ (traditional Cypriot songs) that will take place. The climax of the event will be with the presentation of dances from the group ‘Diplogefiro’ of Trimiklini village and the workshop of traditional dance ‘Alexandra’ with the dancers wearing traditional costumes. The three-member band ‘Ex Adiairetou’ will be in charge of the musical entertainment of the people.
Year by year, the festival gains more and more visitors, who seek to learn about the Cypriot culture and at the same time to spend carefree the first Sunday of Spring, among bloomed fields and scents from strictly traditional delicacies. Will you miss the chance to attend this Spring feast?
