The scenery is indeed magical. The endless meadow, west to Limassol, seems to be a whole other country, but it is actually a few kilometers far from the city. The habitat in the area has really been taken care of these past few years and it does inspire pride and optimism.

A flight over the brand new, beautiful and green meadow, right next to the city, is good enough to make you smile. The meadow is alive, with numbers of cows and donkeys constantly growing and with hundreds of local and visiting birds nestling there to find shelter.

Important restoration works have been going on lately, aiming to the preservation of the habitat and the salt lake, as well as to enhance the activities of the residents from surrounding communities, which secure the natural balance in the area. On the occasion of the implementation of the restoration works, the marsh officially received its visitors on the bird watch kiosks and at the Akrotiri Environmental Education Center, while the video allows us to a tour through it, even if it is a remote one, before we visit it.
