VIDEO: Snow is falling at low altitude – Temperature reaches 0°C in the city

Just a few hours before the coldest night of this winter, the communities on Limassol’s hills saw white flakes falling plenty and thick. The sun did not appear at all, hidden behind clouds of snow and rain, causing the temperature to remain at very low levels and changing abruptly the sunny scenery of the previous days.

Lofou, which just about 6 weeks ago was again dressed in white, was found today surrounded by snow. The village situated at an altitude of less than 800 meters, is not the only one in the Limassol district that saw snow falling, since from early in the morning throughout the Troodos mountain range, several areas were taken over by the new cold wave.

The city may not have seen any snowflakes, but the temperature did not rise above 10°C throughout the course of the day. With temperature at 0°C on the night before Saturday 28/1, which is estimated to be the coldest winter day, could only prepare the people for what is to follow. Apart from the intense and sudden cold, however, the image of fresh snow is always enjoyable.
