The imposing, black and white photo by Romos Kotsonis made it to the top at the international photography competition in Switzerland, bringing back home the silver medal of its category. The photograph with the mysterious air, is entitled “Looking for light”.
It is a photo from a series of shots and video footage taken during the visits of the photographer at the deserted hospital in the area of the asbestos mine on Troodos. The building has been left unattended for decades, which resulted to an image of some haunted place.
The photographer’s model, Ria Petridou, poses in front of one of the largest windows of the colonial style construction, giving the impression that she is looking after the light streaming in the area full of shadows and mysterious corners. Romos Kotsonis has been receiving several awards for his work, both in local and international contests, thus promoting the beautiful landscapes of the island.
