Spread both on land and sea, 103 young athletes from 20 countries from around the world participate in «RS:X Youth World Windsurfing Championship 2016». The great international event is hosted in Limassol under the auspices of the Cyprus Sports Organization.

The Limassol Nautical Club was chosen by "RS:X Olympic Windsurfing Class Association"  to organize this year on 19-26 November the event, thus attracting international attention in the city and the opportunities for water sports in our place. On the first day of their arrival, the athletes paraded in the Limassol center, in a festive atmosphere bringing a special vibe in heart of the city.

Windsurfing is one of the most prevalent types of sailing and one of the 10 Olympic classes. The appearance of athletes in the sea offers a unique spectacle and attracts friends of the sport and more.

Cyprus will be represented by the athletes Joanna Avraamidou, Natasha Lapa, Eliza Parshyna, Christos Christodoulou of the Limassol Nautical Club and Nicolas Protopapas and Notis Kazamias Famagusta Nautical Club. Coach is the 2 times World winner of the RS:X Youth World Windsurfing Championship, Michael Malekkidis.
