The first step towards the reform of Western Limassol is about to begin with the connection between the Franklin Roosevelt avenue and the seafront avenue. The project was left on hold due to the economic austerity and the contract was finally signed in mid-December between the Public Works Department and the company An. Christou Properties and Constructions Ltd.
The construction works will extend from the seafront avenue, close to Commandaria Street (at the medieval city limits), and they will reach up to the church of St. Antonios. According to the announcement, the cost of the project is €2.540.215,45 (+ VAT.), while the construction work is expected to begin in January 2017 and will be completed in 78 weeks.
The connection of the seafront avenue with Franklin Roosevelt avenue will help reshape the road from the Old Port to St. Antonios. The plans for the construction of the Coastal Road are expected to be forwarded next. This project will connect the Limassol Marina area with the New Limassol Port and will have a total cost of €50 million.
