Mr Petros is the man whose portrait is seen painted on Lofou’s main road. This modern drawing was created by the artist Twenty Three, who participated at the Xarkis Festival, which focuses in showcasing tradition and incorporating it in our days.
Lofou is a classic case of the revival of tradition, since after being desolated, managed to be reborn, to attract young residents and become a picturesque destination at Limassol’s mountains. The restored, stone built houses, the picturesque guest houses, the streets paved with pebbles, are an inspiration to discover the past. So, the 95-year-old Petros is the oldest living actor of that past.
As the oldest resident of the village, he has seen it changing several times and just as the old elements exist right next to the new ones, thus himself spends his days side by side with the young people of his place today. His portrait is without doubt an actual representation of the reverence and respect the new generation feels towards the past he represents.
