A total tranformation of the area where the Old Port round about used to be 1 year ago, is on the way in Limassol. The construction works for the junction between thw seaside road and Franglinou Roosevelt Street will be complemented by the remodelling of the area in front of the Old Port, according to the plans for Limassol's new square.
Syntagma Square, as it will be officialy called, will be a connective point between the historical city center, with the Castle Square, and the Old Port and seaside park. The plans for the square include green areas and flower pots, passages suitable for people both on foot or riding bicycles, lighting, benches and small, artificial ponds, an element referring to both the proximity to the sea and the landscaping at the seaside park.
Pedestrian crossing points will serve to connect the historical center with the new square, as it was originally planned for the construction of the road (check out more here). The works for the remodelling of the area will last for a period of 6 months (starting from September 2018, until February 2019), with a total fund of €800.000,00.
