The CUT students threw some light in Rialto, literally. Under the Memorandum of Understanding between the Cyprus University of Technology and the Rialto Theater recently renewed, students of the course "Product Design" of the Department of Multimedia and Graphic Arts, of the School of Fine and Applied Arts, worked on the redesign and transformation of fixtures / chandeliers of the theater.
The fixtures were made having as an inspiration the Art Deco facade of the building, following its simple lines that impress with their symmetrical shapes. The idea was presented to the theater’s director, George Papageorgiou, by the students Angeli Toulia, Anastasiou Christos, Simoni Vasileiou, Giannapi Constantina, Panagiota Gregoriou, Karagiannis Charis, Milikouri Stephanie, Mouskou Katerina, Palaontas Antonis - Alexandros and Ioannou Zinonas, under the guidance of their Professor, Eve Korai.
Later on, the team worked on the conversion and installation of lighting in the cafeteria of the theater, using manufacturing processes in order to reach the desired result. To achieve their objective, the needs of that space for their intended purpose were taken into account, considering colors, energy savings during operation of the lamp, etc.
