PHOTOS: A majestic Russian temple is being constructed in Limassol!

Limassol will be welcoming its first, large, Russian church in the next coming months, since it has been the home for the largest part of the Russian-speaking community in Cyprus. With approximately 20.000 Russians permanently residing in Limassol, and thousands others visiting regularly and staying for several months, the district will now have an official and spectacular temple, to host the religious ceremonies of the Russian Orthodox Christians.

This will be the second Orthodox Christian church of a Russian type, to be constructed in Cyprus, after the first one that was inaugurated in Limassol District, around 1 year ago in the district of Nicosia. The temple is being inaugurated in Kalogiroi area, on a height with the northern hills of Limassol in the background, between Yermasoyia and Moutayiaka.

The majestic belfry is the first part of the temple that is progressing significantly fast, being a proof of the spectacular image of the overall construction. In that same location there was already a much smaller, wooden temple operating for some time now, to caver basic uses. The construction of the new temple has been under the auspices of the Russian Church, which is also funding the project.
