New roundabouts and a bicycle lane of almost 2.5 km in the Western Limassol

Another bicycle lane of approximately 2.5 km will be added at the street network of the Western Limassol. The bicycle lane, just as the walkways to be built, will be part of the road constructed in the Section B of the second phase of construction of the Vertical Road connecting the new Limassol port with the highway of Limassol - Paphos (total cost € 75 million).

The construction of the parallel road around the Limassol port, with a length of approximately 2.5 km, starts just before the roundabout on the east side of the harbor and reaches up to the vertical road leading to the highway, through the Hospital bridge. Through its full upgrade into a 4-lane road, a central dividing strip will be constructed, a bicycle lane with a width of 2.7 meters, a walkway on either side of the road with a width of 2.7 meters, as well as a green strip along the cycle lane.

A retaining wall along the northwestern limit of the road will also be constructed along with 2 new roundabouts, apart from the one at the harbor entrance: 1 at the junction with Serifou street and 1 in the new eastern entrance of the port that gives access to the new passenger hall. On the junction with Voukourestiou street traffic lights will be installed, as well as for the pedestrians crossing points, where indicated in red in the plan. The project of €14.6 million cost also includes the construction of a culvert to remove rainwater stagnating in the region and it will be delivered in autumn 2018.
