Limassol’s share of €1 billion in Cyprus economy

Limassol seems to have a leading role in growth rates, as estimated by the Central Bank. According to data presented by the Director of the Central Bank's Economic Analysis and Research, Giorgos Kyriakou, at the event «Cyprus Economic Society», private industry, especially investments in Limassol, is crucial for the future of the economy.

Mr. Kyriakou mentioned investment projects in excess of €1 billion for the period 2017-2019. Among these, major projects in Limassol have a total share of €670 million. These are allocated as follows: €60 million at The Oval, €60 million at ONE, €50 million at Parklane Luxury Collection and Spa, €150 million at Lanitis Seafront.

A special mention was made to the development of the resort casino, this mammoth investment of over €500 million, which is by far the largest development planned in Limassol, and in Cyprus, too. The progress made with the investment of €200 million for the Technology Park in Pentakomo is also considered an important development. According to estimates of the Central Bank, the economy will grow, mostly thanks to private investment initiatives, by 2.8% in 2017, while in 2018 the growth will amount to 3.1%.
