In 1 year, a green route will connect the old town with the Western Limassol!

With a fund of €2 million the project for connecting Limassol’s old town with Ayios Ioannis area through a green route will be implemented. The green walk way, around 1 km long, will pass through religious, historical and architectural landmarks of the area, aiming to showcase its ever going importance for the city.

The route will start at Ayia Napa church and will finish at the roundabout, next to the Anayennisi park. The distance will be marked with “follow me” signs on the floor and information signs for each of the points of interest on this route. The project will allow people to enjoy online information with free wifi on selected areas and the use of a digital touring app.

The project is expected to change the image of the region drastically, combined with the plans for the expansion of Garyllis linear park and the reconstruction of the roads nearby. The schedule sets the implementation of the project in around 1 year, aiming to incorporate elements of sustainable mobility in the city and special parameters for the environmental characteristics of the area.
