Opening ceremony for Cyprus-Israel Regatta 2016 will be held in Limassol Marina at 9 a.m. on Saturday, October 15th. The Regatta is being co-organized be the Israel Yacht Club (IYC) and Famagusta District Sailing Club Begafigo.
Boats begun their journey on Thursday, October 13th, to arrive in Cyprus where they will compete in the sea area from Limassol to Zygi and from Zygi to Larnaca. The Regatta will finish on October 20th in Tel Aviv, where participants will be shown around the city.
Arrival day, Friday the 14th of October, finds Limassol Marina with unusual traffic. High temperatures and sunny weather make the scheduled start for the Regatta on Saturday October 15th, a sailing festival for the sea and Mediterranean scenery lovers.
Just five minutes before noon on Saturday the warning signal will be given for the boats to start sailing towards Zygi. The prizing ceremony will take place there, after the race, at 8 o’ clock on Saturday evening. Participants will have the opportunity to enjoy a taste of Cypriot hospitality along with a rich dinner and music.
At 10:30 on Sunday morning the boats will spread their sails to Larnaca. Prizing ceremony on Sunday evening will be followed by a “White balance show” and a cocktail party with the Foinikoudes beach front view.
The return to Israel will start a 11 a.m. on Tuesday, October 18th, after an all day tour in Cyprus sights on Monday.
