Before and after: The lake in Asbestos mine proves that it did rain a lot!

Proof that winter was quite efficient, is much clearer when you look from above. The picture from the old asbestos mine in Troodos does not need any explanations. The pond constructed in the pit speaks for itself.

This lake took its currents only recently and the water flowing in produces an excellent sight. Water summed up, after the rapid and continuous rain in December, which this year kept falling in January, too. The cavity has gotten an intense blue color, again proving that its hosts a large amount of water, while water is also collected in a smaller cavity next to it.

Instead, the air-picture before the recent rain, shows that water supplies were at very low level, and the blue color had become pale and washed off to white. The construction of the lake, with a capacity of 40000 cubic meters of water was decided in order to establish a better management of the site. At the surrounding area there will also be built a pedestrian path. The project is expected to be completed in April.
