The creation of a museum area, which will house exhibits from the collection of antiquities, fossils and minerals of Tsirideion Foundation, was announced by the President, Nicos Anastasiades, during the official opening of the exhibition at the Natural History Museum in Nicosia.
The construction of the museum is expected to cost €3 million and the Department of Forests is searching for a suitable space for it to be housed. So far two buildings in Asbestos Mine have been under consideration, the old hospital building with an area of 1,800 sq.m. and the building of two old mills Mine area of 2,000 sq.m.
These priceless treasures collected by Angelos and Emily Tsirides, worth over €5 million, will be housed in a museum in the Troodos region, both as part of an educational institution but also as an attraction site for locals and foreign visitors.
President Anastasiades mentioned that the decision of the Cabinet "is an expression of gratitude on the part of the state" towards Mr and Mrs Tsirides for their donation. The museum in Troodos will be created with the participation of Tsirideio Foundation partners.
