There is an optimistic image coming from the 2 main tourist markets, the Russian and the British one, while a new dynamic arises from the German market through the flights of Germania airlines, with direct routes to and from Paphos. As estimated by the actors in this sector, the German market can help address seasonality, since the Germans are having vacations both in the beginning and the end of the year.
This market of around 55 million bookings a year, creates a momentum for Limassol to absorb as many as possible, depending on the readiness in beds. These visitors, apart from the sun and the sea, are also looking for unique experiences in their holiday by choosing various activities, such as cycling. Limassol attracts about 12% - 13% of the total tourism on the island and the great challenge is to attract the largest possible portion of those Germans that will visit Cyprus.
Signs of increased interest also come from smaller markets, such as Switzerland, the Scandinavian countries and Israel. Several airlines have started their flights earlier this year, which will continue after the end of the tourist season, creating the prospect for more arrivals both in March and in November.
