Volunteers from the teams ‘Friends of the Earth Cyprus’ and ‘Let’s Do It Cyprus’ hosted an event for the collection of recycling items from the grand carnival parade, which took place last Sunday at the central Makarios boulevard.
After the termination of the party, the volunteers collected 250 bags with recycling items in total. It is estimated that 15.000 spray cans were collected, which fitted within 30 bags. The collection of the items occurred during the parade, with the volunteers following the path of the carnival participants. The participants of this initiative have expressed their wish for this event to be repeated next year, preparing a written essay with the Limassol Municipality and other authoritative services at the recipients.
Except from the aluminum cans which were given to the organization Can for Kids for charity, the rest of the recycling items were given to Green Dot. The individuals who were in the action originated from the teams Friends of the Earth Cyprus, Let’s Do It Cyprus, Together Cyprus, Limassol Cycling Association, Green Limassol and Office of the Environmental Commissioner.
