VIDEO: In this village in Limassol Santa comes to your place

For 5 years now, Santa doesn' t arrive in Kyperounta on a sleigh, but on a car, escorted by horsemen and elves and of course with many bags full of gifts. This village in the Limassol district, which celebrates snowy Christmas, has the chance on New Year's Eve to welcome Santa in person. The bearded old man will knock on each one of the doors at the houses in the village and will deliver the festive packages to children and adults.

This is an initiative by the Youth Centre of Kyperounta in cooperation with the Equestrian Club "Alexander the Great" of Kyperounta to support the Nursery School of community. Parents communicate over the previous days with the organizers to provide them the gifts to be delivered to the house on the night of December 31st. For this service, the good elves of Santa Claus receive a price, which is then donated to the charity of the event.

This institution of home deliveries by Santa and his assistants managed to become a very beloved habit and part of the celebrations for the arrival of the new year. The Santa Claus car will be on the streets from early in the afternoon and, usually, the demand is such, that the last package is being delivered after the year changes. The delightful video below presents last year's event.
