VIDEO: Hundreds of candles and a bonfire seen from Limassol’s sky sure are awe inspiring!

Hundreds of people were found in the temples on the evening of the Holy Saturday, just a few minutes before the Resurrection message was heard. In the yards and the nearby fields, as the custom has it, large bonfires, “lambratzies”, were lit since early in the afternoon to burn Judas.

Everybody is excited to participate in this ceremony, either really religious, or maybe not so much. This holiday is special because it brings everybody together, because it is full of light, warmth and love. And even if we know that well, sometimes it takes a different point of view on the subject, in order to grasp it in its whole meaning.

The view of Agios Nikolaos church from up above, with hundreds of candles lighting up one of the most central areas of Limassol, sure is awe, admiration and serenity inspiring. Even more impressive is the image of the temple, surrounded by the light of those little flames, right next to the large bonfire, endlessly burning, reaching up to the sky. Without any doubt, this picture is filled with as much devoutness as the Easter holiday itself.
