The first images of the water flow in Germasogeia dam

Notes of optimism come from the Germasogeia dam, where water has already begun to come down after the last rain. The water flow in rivers, particularly in mountainous areas, has already started to increase. The Germasogeia dam was one that had particularly been affected by the drought of the summer. The water level was lowered significantly and the dam was in danger of being left empty, revealing in various areas its long forgotten bottom.

Fortunately, by the beginning of December the total amount of rain reached 148,8 mm in Limassol or 146% of the normal amount. Among the areas with the most rainfall throughout Cyprus from December 1st was Kellaki with 133%. December, being the rainiest month of the year in general, did not fail to verify the predictions to the most, creating an optimistic perspective for the new year.

In the Limassol district rainfall continues, after having already reached a peak, sending positive signals for this winter. Although the rain was late to come, finally managed to make an impressive appearance. With the melting of the large amount of snow accumulated in mountain areas, it is expected that the flow in the rivers and dams will further increase.
