Limassol: The tourism breaks every record

An impressive rise has been marked in Limassol’s tourism figures over the period January- September 2016. The percentage of increase reaches the remarkable 17% compared to last year’s standards, according to ΕΤΑP (Tourism Development and Promotion) Limassol.

The town has conquered 20% of the number of foreigners who visit the island and on top of this is the addition of those who visit for the sake of business arrangements, meetings etc. Regarding periods of minimal tourism, multiple attempts are being made in order to attract sports tourism with the organisation of various athletic occasions such as Marathonios, Global Wellness Day, cross fit events and many more.

Overall it continues to be a regular destination on the list of the United Kingdom and Russia. On this list Israel, Lebanon and the United Arab Emirates are also included due to increased interest they have shown over the past few years. A pattern of internal tourism has also been observed as a result of the many gastronomic choices, the nightlife and the many other activities that are being offered.

Concerning the planning of the next touristic season, everything will be upgraded with the creation of the Junior Ministry of Tourism, for further enhancement of Limassol’s promotion overseas. This could possibly attract the interest of foreign businesses for purposes such as the development of new boutique hotels.

A crucuial role will be played by grand projects within the next couple of years such as the reopening of Le Meridien with the new name «Parklane Luxury» and the brand new hotel of Stademos Hotels, in 2018. This confirms that the progress of tourism walks hand in hand with the progress of hotels and resorts in Limassol, thus promising an even more promising tomorrow for its tourists.
