Another distinction for CUT promotes the city' s university internationally. After ranking among the top 500 universities in Europe, CUT is now included in the list of prestigious international rankings, Times Higher Education BRICS & Emerging Economies Rankings 2017.

In particular, the Cyprus University of Technology is ranked 52nd among the 300 top universities in countries with emerging economies. As mentioned in the University' s announcement, this distinction "is an important achievement that confirms the University’s  excellence and dedication to quality on international level, as well as its upward trend."

For the evaluation of the universities, the ranking applies 13 very strict and demanding performance indicators, the same as those used by the basic list of T.H.E World University Rankings. Referring to this important success, Phil Baty, editor of The World University Rankings, stated that it is not easy for a University to be included on this list.

This distinction indicates high level of performance in all areas: teaching, research, knowledge transfer and international image and perspective to compete with other leading universities in research among 50 countries with emerging economies.
