The Pedestrian Parade that colored the streets of the city

On Thursday 23rd of February, the established evening Pedestrian Parade took place for 1 more year, in a collaboration of the Limassol Municipality with the Association Friends of Limassol Carnival. The commencing of the parade occurred at Grigoris Afxentiou Square which ended up at the Medieval Castle Square.

What makes the particular parade so special from others, is that as its name reveals, the fact that the participants cross the city centre by feet, dressed as ‘Pellomaskes’ (Crazy Masks). With the Castle as a destination, hundreds of people walked down Ayiou Andreou street, creating a colorful maze that was characterized by energy and the urge for fun.

The termination of the Pedestrian Parade brought the commencing of a carnival dance ball, with the ‘Xorodia ton Oneiron’ (Choir of Dreams) lifting up the rhythms of the night in a seditious carnival music program, which led the crowd into wild dancing. A competition for Crazy Masks and Smart Masks took place during the event, with the 3 best disguises receiving awards.

Among the Crazy Masks that stole the show was the couple which inspired by the latest global political news, dressed as Donald Trump and Ivana Trump, wearing the same clothes from the inauguration day of the new president of the world. The show was stolen also by the known doll couple of Barbie and Ken, which were brought to real life and strolled around the streets of Limassol.
