PHOTOS: The snowy slopes of Troodos in the past decades!

The pictures from the white slopes of Troodos have become a part of our everyday life. Many people are visiting the Limassol mountain range, enjoying special moments that only the white veil of snow can offer. But what was happening in the past decades? Did the Limassolians used to enjoy the beauty of Troodos, or was it unusual for them?

Retro photographs from the middle of the 20th century and afterwards, show that the snowy Troodos was a popular destination for many visitors. Through the photographic shots, it seems that children and adults as well, didn’t hesitate to play and have fun with the snow on the mountains.

On the photos of the past decades, nostalgic moments are depicted, showing visitors enjoying snow games on the slopes, at the central Troodos Square, as well as rides with donkeys. Besides, the mountain slopes of the range have been a location of some of the most beautiful leisure resorts and tourist accommodations ever since.

Older photos from the snowy mountainside, are, of course, relatively rare. The photographers who could be found there were clearly fewer than those who are now immortalizing moments of the white landscape. Maybe the hundreds of cameras, drones, and mobile phones that transfer thousands of images, didn’t exist back then, but Troodos has always offered the same magnificent spectacle.
