OPAP Limassol Marathon GSO 2018 goes to Fasouri!

The 12th Limassol Marathon event, the largest sports event in Cyprus, comes with important innovations in 2018. After a successful update of the institution into a 2-day event, with several parallel happenings, the 42.195-meter route now reaches to Fasouri area, while there are even more interesting changes incorporated in the event.

While on Saturday, March 17th, the Primetel Corporate race and Dashin’s Foundation Youth Race will be hosted at Limassol’s seafront, the competitive race taking place on Sunday, March 18th, will be stretched towards the western Limassol, showcasing new amazing locations, such as the “Cypress tree tunnel” at Asomatos. The eastern end of the route will reach at St. Raphael marina, crossing through the rare sight of ancient Amathus. The half marathon race, 10 km Petrolina Energy Race and the 5 km City Race, still take place on the Limassol seafront.

Along the way, there will be 15 spots for catering the runners, while there will also be 9 more cheering points, which aim to make the route less lonely. Thus Djs, live music and dancing groups will be creating the appropriate, enthusiastic vibes that will encourage the runners to keep going. Enriching and upgrading the services towards the runners, the organizers will also be hosting the “pace-makers”, a team of 15 fast runners from abroad, who will set the pace for the runners to hit new records.

Parallel events
The 2nd Running Community Forum will be taking place on Thursday, March 15th, at the CUT, with Demetris Kyriakides, son of the famous, local runner, Stelios Kyriakides, as the main speaker. On Saturday, March 17th, Petrolina Energy Day will be taking place at the Old Port for the second-time round, while the same area will be hosting the closing part by Guaba Beach Bar on Sunday, March 18th.
