Pellomaska 2017: Those who put out their craziness and draw some looks at the Tuesday ball!

Pellomaska (crazy masks) may be a second nature for Limassolians. Humor, unbridled imagination and endless portions of madness left their mark for another year in the alleys of the old city.

Masculine fairies, dog faces, hairy tongues, mysterious and bizarre brides, television personas and thousands more fickle masquerades flooded the Castle Square. The Tuesday ball, the second major spree after the binge of Tsiknopempti (Pancake Day), managed to bring back to the surface the carnival customs, as they were celebrated in the beginning of the past century in Limassol.

One thing for sure is that the judges for the competition of the best costumes had to pick out of a huge variety and had some difficulty to choose. Just as certain, however, that winners and non-winners had the time of their lives, with drinks, music, dance and laughter. Andreas Christoforou captured the masquerades with the camera and brought back the highlights.
